I've got a question about dress code for the wedding ceremony at the shrine and the party at the hotel from several guests. So I'm going to write on it :)
Basically, as long as you avoid wearing white clothes (bride is going to be in white), black ties and black dress (they are for funerals), and too casual or flashy clothes, you should be fine.
Men
The standard is a dark (black) suit, white shirt, a white tie, and plain black shoes (like Japanese salary men). Cloured suits, shirts and ties are getting popular recently, though. If you want, you can also wear a bow tie and a vest.
Women
The standard is a plain-coloured dress (shiny but somewhat modest) with nude-coloured stockings and pumps. Please do not wear a very tight dress or work suit. Shoulders should be covered with a shawl or bolero. The dress should be below (or just at) the knee, and it should not be floor-length (long dresses are for a ceremony in the evening). No open-toed shoes, no high heels. Small jewelry is a plus.
Easy to get out of shoes is also recommended, you will be in strumplästen at the shrine. The most formal prat is in the morning if you are fast there it is possible to adjust before lunch or before the night after-party
